What a beautiful family owned and run winery. We went on a Sunday in March and the weather was perfect. The live music along with winery dog made for a peaceful afternoon of catching up with friends and enjoying being in the moment. The views were beautiful and love that’s it’s down the street from both a beautiful park and next door to a breathtaking wedding venue. I recommend doing a tasting and then picking a bottle to enjoy with a cheeseboard or to take home. The glasses are beautiful and of course available for purchase. The live music only added to the calm that you feel while visiting. Can’t wait to go back!
Visited on a girls trip, 1st stop. Enjoyed 2 out of 5 for the wine tasting. Not too impressed with the wines. It was super quiet inside i felt bad for even talking lol, but it definitely went with the atmosphere. The view was beautiful. Ordered a charcuterie board and was super disappointed. Liked the view, but not sure i would go bk.
Great winery near LBJ ranch. They have a large patio to enjoy one of their many wines! Their list is very extensive! We especially like all of their roses, I believe there are 3 different ones, all delicious! Very friendly staff
My wife and I recently stumbled across this winery while doing the Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch tour, and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. They are very personable here, and the owner volunteered to bring us wines to do a tasting outside, even though they didn't have a tasting bar outdoors (we had our two dogs with us). He described in detail each wine to us, and even told us a bit about him and his wife's winery journey. The wines were amazing, the best we had our whole trip. Their red wines are fantastic! I would highly suggest visiting this winery if you want something off the beaten path, that is quiet and comfortable, and has wines that rival the best in Texas Hill Country!
Great winery! We discovered it after having one of the best Cabernet Sauvignons we’ve ever had at Cabernet Grill. We just had to check out the winery! We were sad they didn’t have that wine at the winery but we really enjoyed our wine tasting and walked away with two great wines. Highly recommend!
Went on Friday afternoon 8/11. Had to reschedule the day before and they were very accommodating. We reserved a tasting with small plate pairing ahead of time online and found the pairings to be well paired and the service very friendly and accommodating. The wine is very good. My fiancé and I have done tastings at ~15 wineries in the area and while we find things we like everywhere, the wine at Ab Astris was consistently good across the board, they had several estate wines which for younger vines have good nuanced flavor and structure.
For anyone reading negativity in the reviews below, this winery is family owned and boutique, with quality wine that deserves taking the time to reserve ahead of time and not rush through. We found the staff to be friendly and very much the embodiment of a casual Texas hill country mentality. If you're expecting Napa commercial tasting experience ... maybe adjust your expectations.
My parents were in town visiting from NJ and we decided to try a handful of wineries in the Hill Country. They've spent a lot of time in Napa and love wine. I'm normally a red wine drinker first and foremost and I LOVED their whites and rose. My Mom and I both left with a white, a red, and a rose. I think this is my new favorite winery in the region!
An Apricus Rosé to celebrate the sunset! Wonderful Texas-centric vineyard!
